Make Valentine’s Day extra special with this recipe.
Ingredients
⅓ cup Grandma’s Jam House Jam
1 Egg Yolk
¾ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 cup Softened Butter
2 ¼ cups All Purpose Flour
⅓ cup Packed Brown Sugar
⅓ cup White Sugar
2 teaspoons Corn Starch
½ teaspoon Salt
Instructions
1. In a stand mixer cream together the brown and white sugar and the butter.
2. Add the vanilla extra and egg yolk.
3. Add the cornstarch, salt, and flour to mixture from first two steps.
4. Mix ingredients until it forms a soft dough.
5. Divide the mixed dough into 24 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
6. Using the bottom of a fork or your thumb to press a heart shape into each ball of dough. Does not have to be a heart shape if you would rather just make regular thumb print cookies.
7. Place each cookie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
9. While cookies are being chilled, prepare the jam.
10. Add the jam to a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave for approximately 10 seconds or slowly heat up in a pot on the stove.
11. Remove the cookies from the refrigerator and fill the imprints with the jam.
12. In a 375°F preheated oven, bake the cookies for 10-12 or until the edges of the cookies are slightly browned.
13. Allow cookies to cool on a cooling rake before serving.
