Turkey Burgers with Grape Jelly Caramelized Onions

These scrumptious caramelized onions take your turkey burgers to the next level of deliciousness!


    • 4 hamburger buns
    • 1 lb lean ground turkey
    • 1 large egg
    • ½ cup breadcrumbs
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 onion, thinly sliced
    • ½ teaspoon thyme
    • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 3 tablespoon Grandma’s Jam House Grape Jelly
    • ¼ cup chicken stock or water
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Optional: lettuce and tomato


1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-low heat.
2. Add the onion and cook over low heat for about 25 minutes.
3. Once the onions are very soft, stir in thyme, chili flakes, jelly, stock, and salt and pepper.
4. Continue to cook for another 15 minutes or until liquid has mostly evaporated.
5. For the burgers, combine ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, mustard, and salt and pepper.
6. Divide and shape the mixture into 4 patties.
7. Using your fingers, make a shallow depression in the center of each patty.
8. Preheat a lightly oiled grill to medium-high heat.
9. Grill the burgers for 8 minutes per side or until completely cooked through.
10. Transfer onto buns.
11. Top with optional garnishes and a spoonful of caramelized onions.
