Honey Whole Wheat Bread

This yummy bread is easy to make and perfect for sandwiches and toast!

Ingredients

    • 3 cups whole wheat flour
    • ½ cup nonfat dry milk
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • 2 packages dry yeast
    • 3 cups water
    • ½ cup Grandma’s Jam House Honey
    • 2 tablespoons oil
    • 1 additional cup whole wheat flour
    • 4 – 4 ½ cups white flour

Instructions

1. Combine in large bowl: 3 cups whole wheat flour, dry milk, salt and yeast.
2. Heat in saucepan until warm: water, honey, and oil.
3. Pour warm (not hot) liquid over flour mixture.
4. Beat with electric mixer for 3 minutes.
5. Stir in remaining whole wheat flour and white flour.
6. Knead for 5 minutes, using additional flour if necessary.
7. Place in greased bowl, turn, let rise until double in bulk.
8. Punch down, divide in half and shape into loaves.
9. Place into greased 9 x5” bread pans.
10. Cover and let rise for 40 – 45 minutes.
11. Bake at 375 for 40 – 45 minutes.
