Fried Bread & Butter Pickles and Chive Buttermilk Dressing

A great appetizer or snack for your next family gathering!

Ingredients

    • 1 jar Grandma’s Jam House Bread and Butter Pickles or Hot Bread and Butter Pickles
    • 1 gallon vegetable oil, for frying
    • 2 cups flour
    • Kosher salt

    • Buttermilk Chive Dressing:
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 4 ounces buttermilk
    • 2 ounces apple cider vinegar
    • 1 bunch fresh chives, finely chopped
    • 1 bunch fresh dill, picked and finely chopped
    • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    • Kosher salt to taste
    • Pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Place the oil in large pot and place on medium heat until the oil reaches 350 degrees F.
2. Place the flour in a medium mixing bowl
3. With a slotted spoon, add several Bread and Butter Pickles to the flour.
4. Coat the pickles with the flour, making sure they are individually coated, as they tend to stick together. Flour the pickles in 2 or 3 small batches.
5. Add the pickles to the hot oil and fry, turning once, until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
6. Drain on a paper-towel-lined baking sheet to absorb any excess grease.
7. Season with kosher salt.
8. Serve with Buttermilk Chive Dressing.

Buttermilk Chive Dressing:
1. In a small mixing bowl, add the sour cream, buttermilk and apple cider vinegar and
2. whisk until the ingredients are incorporated.
3. Add the chives, dill, sugar, salt and pepper and stir once more.
4. Cover and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
5. For best results, make a day or two ahead of time before using.
